France: Réforme des retraites : le rapport de la commission des finances de l'Assemblée nationale
La réforme présentée par le gouvernement prévoit 3,7 milliards d'euros de nouvelles recettes : annualisation des allégements de charges pour les entreprises, relèvement de la dernière tranche de l'impôt sur le revenu, etc. Le député UMP Laurent Hénart, rapporteur pour avis du projet de loi, « souhaiterait (...) qu'on puisse aller plus loin dans la recherche de recettes au profit des régimes de retraites ».

Het rapport ‘Regionale economische vooruitzichten 2009-2015’ is een gezamenlijke publicatie van het Federaal Planbureau (FPB), het Brussels Instituut voor Statistiek en Analyse (BISA), de Studiedienst van de Vlaamse Regering (SVR) en het Institut Wallon de l’Evaluation, de la Prospective et de la Statistique (IWEPS). De resultaten zijn gebaseerd op het regionaal econometrisch model hermreg voor het opstellen van regionale middellangetermijnvooruitzichten.

Optimisation du fonctionnement du Fonds Spécial de Solidarité
Le Fonds Spécial de Solidarité (FSS), un des moyens de protection des patients contre les dépenses médicales élevées, existe depuis 20 ans. A la demande de l’INAMI, le Centre fédéral d’expertise des soins de santé (KCE) a examiné le fonctionnement de cet organisme, et émet un nombre de propositions d’amélioration : plus de clarté dans les conditions d’intervention et plus de transparence dans la motivation des décisions. Un point de contact central à l’INAMI pour les demandes pourrait accélérer la procédure. Une collaboration entre le FSS et les autres instances qui interviennent dans le remboursement des traitements médicaux, des médicaments ou des implants est nécessaire pour parvenir à une politique de remboursement cohérente.

Market panic led a number of souther European nations to move into crash austerity mode, while other economies yet spared the market's wrath have planned or discussed cuts of their own. But the continuing weakness of the rich world economy has made the decision to trim budgets a difficult one. Should countries, like America and Britain, facing weak growth and low interest rates opt to trim now, or will current budget cuts do little but undermine fragile recoveries?

Gender gaps in performance pay
The competitive paradigm predicts equivalent wages for equivalent workers, but significant gender gaps persist in many labor markets. This column analyses the gap in earnings between Spanish men and women, focusing on performance-related pay. It shows a strikingly large gap in pay and suggests that employer beliefs about unbalanced household tasks and outside options generate “a marriage premium” for males and a “marriage penalty” for women.
